On “EWTN News Nightly” tonight: Vice President Kamala Harris pays a visit to El Paso, Texas, on Friday after facing intense criticism for waiting so long to go to the southern border. During her trip, she met with faith leaders, including the Catholic Diocese of El Paso. At the White House, President Biden claimed victory on a bipartisan infrastructure plan worth nearly $600 billion in new spending. But selling skeptical senators to sign on while advancing a reconciliation bill that could total around $6 trillion presents a challenge. The president also threatened to not sign the bipartisan bill unless Republicans agree to his tax plan. Abroad, a senior Vatican official says he and many of his colleagues at the Secretariat of State have yet to be convinced that speaking out on the situation in Hong Kong “would make any difference.” Rome Correspondent Colm Flynn joins to discuss the situation there and whether or not pressure is mounting on the Vatican to make a statement. Meanwhile, Pope Francis and Bishop Georg Bätzing of Germany met in a private audience on Thursday. AC Wimmer, editor-in-chief of Catholic News Agency Deutsch, joins to discuss the meeting between the two Church leaders and the Vatican’s relationship with the Church in Germany. And this weekend, Sunday marks PTSD Awareness Day. Allison Ricciardi, founder and president of CatholicTherapists.com, joins to discuss PTSD and who can suffer from it.
