Myanmar Church plays vital role in feeding hungry displaced people – UCA News

It’s a hectic time for Catholic social workers and volunteers in eastern Myanmar responding to the needs of thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have taken refuge in churches, remote villages and the jungle. The Church in Kayah state and neighboring Shan state is playing a vital role in supplying humanitarian aid. Church social workers face difficulty providing food and non-food items to IDPs amid military restrictions and roadblocks. They fly the Church’s flags on vehicles which carry rice bags, noodles, beans, oil, medicines and tarpaulins to people facing a humanitarian crisis.
