Archbishop of Athens “harangued” Pope Francis

To be honest, I was impressed by Archbishop Ieronymos. I am not used to the Archbishop raising so many issues, political, geopolitical and religious, in one meeting. His speech was a “slap” against the Roman Catholic Church.

I have to admit that Pope Francis was very gentle. It is the hospitality that requires us to be kind to our guests. That is why the Archbishop welcomed him, but he found the opportunity to harangue the Pope and the leaders of the world. “He regularly does not speak, but if he is about to speak, he has a sharp tongue,” an earwitness Metropolitan told me.

The Archbishop said to the Pope many things. Apologize for not speaking out when the Greeks were struggling for their independence. Apologize for everything the Catholics have done to the Orthodox. Pope, you who are great and great and are taken seriously by everyone as Ieronymos would have said, intervene to stop Turkey from using immigrants in the Aegean as a tool to achieve its goals and blackmail Europe.

In a few words, he called the Glasgow Agreement on environmental protection, which was reached by world leaders, “hypocritical.” In short, there were many words but no essence. As the Archbishop said to the Pope, “If we the Christians do not act and expect the leaders of the world to act, then the planet is over.”

Nonsense and essence

To be honest, everything that Pope Francis said the Orthodox regard as vain. He took, the Catholics say, sixty people to give them asylum in the Vatican. Five years ago, he took ten from Mytilene. And fifty now from Cyprus. Detail: if they do not meet the criteria set by the EU, then they will return to Turkey, where they came from.

Can I tell you the true figures of the work that the Orthodox have done (only in the Church of Greece) all this time?

So remember these figures: at least 10,000 immigrants have left Greece for other European countries with the integration program implemented by the competent service of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece in recent years (NGO “Synyparxis”) with Metropolitan Athenagoras of Ilion and the Gen. Secretary, Panteleimon Papasinefakis. Along with the APOSTOLI NGO of the Archdiocese of Athens, they have also hosted 700 minor immigrants in their accommodation structures.

They could travel by about sixty planes like these big ones that the Pope uses for transfer… Think that if it were not for the Church we would still have 10,000 poor immigrants in our troubled country…
