Cardinal Reinhard Marx Issues Apology Following Release of Report on Misconduct | EWTN News Nightly

The head of an archdiocese in Germany issued an apology this morning to survivors of clergy sexual abuse. This comes following the release last week of a 1,000 page report into misconduct. Cardinal Reinhard Marx from the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, says the treatment of victims was “inexcusable.” The report released last week also called into question how Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI handled abuse claims while he led the diocese. Pope Benedict has denied any wrongdoing. Director of EWTN Germany, Martin Rothweiler, joins to tell us more about today’s press conference. Rothweiler shares what the reaction has been of the German people since the publishing of the report a week ago. He discusses why it is that the focus is so much on Pope Benedict.
