The help that we have been waiting for has arrived.
God is with us always, for Christmas highlights in a special way the incarnation when God becomes flesh and blood in Jesus Christ.
Our saviour comes in good times and in bad.
We have certainly had those times of darkness – COVID-19 is still with us, and the war in Ukraine continues to kill and maim, with certain world leaders seemingly comfortable in opposing world peace by supporting each other’s curious agenda and by promoting the use of nuclear weapons.
Humanity is under attack and we share this planet in the midst of great turmoil and uncertainty.
Christmas presents to the world the gift of a saviour, for no world leader can compete with such a gift.
This gift is light, peace, joy, justice, compassion, love and life itself. Our saviour is the only one in human history who gives total meaning to our existence.
We were meant to live not in the darkness, but in the light, so darkness at Christmas is scattered and hope is released.
As believers, we grasp this light knowing that with God’s help all will be well.
