Posted by This lecture was given in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 8, 2022. In it, I look to the words and actions of the Blessed Virgin Mary as a guide to the spirituality of the liturgy — namely, to the correct internal dispositions and external actions of the formal, public, solemn prayer of the Church by which we most perfectly exercise our baptismal share in Christ’s priesthood and receive the fruits of His redemption. Along the way, I indicate how the traditional liturgy of the Church is profoundly Marian, and how the reform undermined the Marian dimensions of Catholic worship.
