Classified documents found in Joe Biden’s garage

The White House confirmed that lawyers discovered the second batch of secret files in president’s Delaware property alongside his Corvette

Joe Biden has admitted that classified documents from his time as vice president were found in his garage next to his Corvette.

The discovery – the second to be announced this week – was made by Mr Biden’s own lawyers. 

They launched a search of his properties after 10 classified documents from when he was vice president were found in his personal office at a think tank in Washington.

In a statement Richard Sauber, Special Counsel to the President, said: “The lawyers discovered among personal and political papers a small number of additional Obama-Biden Administration records with classified markings. 

“All but one of these documents were found in storage space in the President’s Wilmington residence garage. “One document consisting of one page was discovered among stored materials in an adjacent room.”

It comes after a first batch was discovered earlier this week in a locked cupboard at his former private office at a think tank in Washington.

When top secret documents were found at former president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, Mr Biden branded him “irresponsible”.

Kevin McCarthy, the Republican Speaker of the House, said: “This is what makes Americans not trust their government.”

He said the treatment of Mr Biden and Mr Trump by the Justice Department must be “equal” and has led calls for a formal investigation.
