Though online censorship was originally introduced to counter extremism, Klon traces the actions of tech companies during recent events, including the 2020 US elections and the Hunter Biden laptop saga. Klon argues that the mainstream discussion about internet censorship is extremely polarised and fail to recognise the complexities of the topic area. He points out that society, government and the private sector must find a way to cooperate to solve the larger problems that face Western nations.

Klon Kitchen is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), where he focuses on the intersection of national security and defence technologies and innovation. Through his research, he works to understand and explain how emerging technologies are shaping modern statecraft, intelligence, and warfighting, while focusing on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, robotics, and quantum sciences.

Before joining AEI, Klon was director of the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Technology Policy, and was former national security advisor to Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE).
